'Spider-Man: Far From Home' Post-Credits Scenes Explained

Is this the same version of Jameson who we saw in the Tobey Maguire era of "Spider-Man" movies? The video plays, and we see Mysterio speaking into a camera. He says that he is being attacked by Spider-Man for some reason. Mysterio then says that Spider-Man plans to kill anyone who tries to take Iron Man’s place — that Spider-Man believes he is the only rightful heir to Tony Stark. The image cuts out, and we see Spider-Man’s feet behind Mysterio. In reality, the computer program stored inside Tony’s glasses, EDITH, had asked Spider-Man if he would like to “execute” the orders to cancel all the drones.

Historically, the Skrulls have been villains in the Marvel comics, but Captain Marvel positioned them as allies of Nick Fury and Carol Danvers. Fake Fury does mention "Kree sleeper cells" to Maria Hill as a side-comment in this Spider-Man movie. At this Point the pair notice a breaking news story on a screen above a train station. In it Mysterio who was killed in the final battle, talks in a pre-recorded message, blaming Spider-Man for a drone stroke on Tower Bridge, and, in a shock twist, reveals that Peter Parker is Spider-Man.

Peter and MJ eventually discover Mysterio’s plot, and Peter defeats the villain before sharing his first kiss with MJ. But in two post-credits scenes, we find out that things are not as they appear. Mysterio may be dead, but he makes sure to frame Peter for the destruction of London before he is defeated. And while Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson_ seemed to be helping and guiding Spider-Man on his European vacation, it turns out that someone has been impersonating the SHIELD agent throughout the movie. Then it’s revealed that they’re actually relaying the report to the real Nick Fury, who is on what appears to be a Skrull spaceship taking a “simulated” vacation (he’s using holographic tech).

The screen changes to Fury chilling on a tropical island with a coconut drink, which turns out to be a hologram; he’s actually chilling on a Skrull ship travelling in space. The scene cuts to the real Nick Fury who hangs up on Talos. Fury gets up and stretches to reveal that he's not really on a beach. Not only does Parker have to juggle a new relationship with his superhero responsibilities, but now he's probably going to be on the run, at least for a little now that his secret identity is out there. A familiar "Spider-Man" actor returns in the first scene. The second scene reveals a giant illusion that took place the entirety of the film.

Reviews.

The sheer magnitude of Far From Home’s first after credits moment, which brings J.K. Simmons back as an Alex Jones-like iteration of Daily Bugle (dot net!) newsman J. Jonah Jameson, is so giddy in delivering a fan service moment that the magnitude of what actually happens might get a little lost. Hopefully, we'll only have to wait for San Diego Comic-Con in a few short weeks to potentially hear more about the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe films. While James Gunn is returning to direct the third "GOTG" movie, we're more interested in the latter film.

Beck uses Spider-Man telling Tony Stark’s security system EDITH to “execute” his instructions and pits it against him. Instead of the webhead being shown as the hero, sending the Mysterio-controlled drones away before disaster struck, he’s seen as a cold-blooded killer. In one fell swoop, Mysterio makes Spider-Man seem responsible for the London attack, framing him for that, as well as his death. There’s also the added caveat of it now looking like Spider-Man has an army of drones at his disposal. This has major implications for Spider-Man moving forward.

What this means for future "Spider-Man" movies: It's not looking great for Peter at the moment.

At a press conference, he takes off his mask and reveals his identity to the world. This bold move is retconned in a later comic book that involves Peter and MJ striking a deal with Mephisto, the Lord of Hell, to undo a number of past events, including restoring Peter’s secret identity. It’s unlikely that Mephisto will show up in the MCU films, so Peter’s public identity is probably permanent. By the end of the movie, Peter and MJ are officially an item. And for their first date, Peter decides to take MJ swinging through New York.

For anyone who can remember back to March, approximately 800 years ago in 2019 time, the scene offers some comfort after Captain Marvel. At the end of that film, Talos and his people zipped off into space to find refuge on a new planet. Twenty-eight years later (assuming Captain Marvel takes place in 1995 and Far From Home in five-years-after-the-snap 2023), the Skrulls clearly made it, while still being pursued by the Kree. Talos, as Fury, mentions the recent appearance of Kree sleeper cells, hinting at more conflict to come. It’s hard to imagine Marvel Studios pulling off an adaptation of Secret Invasion with the Skrulls on the side of the good guys, but plenty of other arcs could build towards an Endgame-like conclusion that brings an end to the conflict.

Maria reveals herself to be a Skrull, and Nick Fury reverts to a Skrull form too. They are the Skrulls known as Talos and his wife Soren, the Skrulls whom Carol Danvers helped in Captain Marvel. The sight of Fury in space has us thinking about the future lineup of Marvel movies and most of them are reportedly pretty cosmic. Of Disney's upcoming movie slate, there are eight untitled Marvel movies. Among the movies Marvel is currently working on are "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" and "The Eternals," two movies which deal with space and cosmic beings. If you haven't seen "Captain Marvel," you may have been surprised by the reveal of the shapeshifters. Soren and Talos are two friendly skrulls who were first introduced in the March 2019 movie. Jameson has aged accordingly since the last time we've seen him on screen; however, his appearance leaves a big question up in the air.

At the very least, they imply bigger parts in the franchise for two of indie film’s most beloved character actors, and that’s never a bad thing. It's possible that Nick Fury (not Talos-version) and the Avengers have been mobilized to deal with this new super-powered group that has made themselves known post-Blip, and that Earth needs to deal with its own problems for a while. We'll most likely learn more about the Eternals and when to expect them when Marvel presents at San Diego Comic-Con toward the end of July. The first comes right after the snazzy stop-motion credits sequence involving a roll-call of all of the main cast.

Marvel is expected to return to San Diego Comic-Con later this month to, in theory, announce what’s next. But for now, Far From Home’s layered post-credit moments are the clearest, and most exciting, look at the future of the MCU. For the first time in a long time, anything seems possible. A general in the Skrull Empire, Talos' people were caught in a war with the Kree, who destroyed their home planet. Talos was reunited with his wife, Soren, and his child by the movie's end. Simmons, who played the same character in the original "Spider-Man" trilogy starring Tobey Maguire, appears at the film's end.

Marvel Studios' president Kevin Feige previously told TheWrap the film was in development. Our best guess is that Fury is probably off looking for more alien life to recruit more superheroes. Now that Captain America and Iron Man are toast, he may need some new heroes to fill their shoes. He walks further around the ship barefoot to show that he's in space. In the original trilogy, which ran from 2002 until 2007, Jameson plays a newspaperman who is constantly demanding photos of the webslinger. Jameson thinks Spider-Man is a menace and is set on exposing the vigilante in The Daily Bugle.

Spider-Man: Far From Home post-credits scene #2 – The big Nick Fury reveal

However, at the moment, the studio has yet to confirm anything about the film other than it’s happening. Following a montage of Chadwick Boseman's best moments as Black Panther, the audience gets a shocker with the mid-credits scene, where Nakia brings a little boy to Shuri and introduces him.
